Taking its name from both its lofty perch on the second story overlooking stands of pecan trees as well as the impressive literary history of Bastrop, Stories is an elegant dinner-only restaurant that dishes up inspired haute cuisine in a scenic setting. A guest favorite and a drive-and-dine draw for foodies in Bastrop, Austin and surrounding communities, Stories features a vaulted ceiling, tasteful colors and rich wildwood tables, as well as an intimate outdoor porch overlooking the hotel’s manicured grounds. Restaurant patrons will enjoy locally sourced and regionally inspired seasonal menus thoughtfully designed and served by Bastrop native Chef Daniel Voluz and his talented culinary team. Wine flights and by-the-glass selections from around the world also provide an optional complement to every evening meal.

Named for one of the bright and bold wildflowers that makes Texas its home, Firewheel Cafe reflects its namesake in both design and flavor. Comfortable chairs covered in brilliant hues, colorful chandeliers and stained glass windows – created by Bastrop artist Nancy Beal – lend an air of cheery welcome to our Bastrop, TX, restaurant. Walls of glass patio doors open to our quaint porch, allowing diners both inside and out to enjoy incredible views of the grounds. Enjoy American comfort food created with locally sourced ingredients served up morning, noon or night. Signature dishes include the huevos rancheros, the B.L.T.G. and delicious burgers.

Sidle up to the pecan-filled long bar to enjoy a glass of your favorite bourbon, or join your colleagues for a game of pool or shuffleboard after a long day of meetings. Our tempting bar menu of appetizers is perfectly accompanied by a Texas brew or your favorite cocktail. In keeping with saloon tradition, Shellers pays tribute to the good old-fashioned Texas barrelhouse piano bars and the intrepid musicians who helped make them so popular. One of the original barrelhouse blues piano-pounders, Roosevelt Williams – also known as the Grey Ghost – rode the freights, picking up piano gigs all over Texas and the Southwest, appearing as if out of nowhere and slipping away in similar fashion.

Round out your championship golf experience at our clubhouse eatery, Major Neighbors Grill. Perfectly situated to give guests prime views of the resort grounds, this comfortable Bastrop restaurant serves up lunch and drinks daily in a casual setting. While dining at our restaurant, be sure to take a look at the photo of our namesake’s “Peace Jacket” on display in the restaurant. Major Neighbors was a noted Indian Agent who helped promote peace among settlers and Native Americans during the 1800s. He was never without his “Peace Jacket,” which became a symbol of all he stood for and is an important part of our state’s history.

Sink into the inviting chairs to sip a cognac or brandy while enjoying one of the many books from our impressive collection. The long-standing Texas literary community is highlighted in our cozy library-style lounge. Designed to make you feel as though you have entered your own private den, this quiet respite is ideal for intimate conversations in front of the fire or when you simply want to relax after a full day of activities or meetings.

There’s no need to leave the fun of our Crooked River Pool just because you’re hungry or thirsty. Let the team from Old Buck’s bring you your favorite refreshing drinks and light fare as you relax in your comfortable lounge chair. Want a break from the sunshine? Then come on in and grab a seat at the bar or under the shade and enjoy an ice-cold beer with a foot-long hot dog or a frozen margarita and nachos. Conquer your appetite for good food in the great outdoors at the grill appropriately named for the man who conquered the Colorado River, Buck Buchanan.

Take a trip to the past in our old-fashioned general store. Our Austin dining establishment pays tribute to the historic Bastrop County city of McDade, a town that embodies the spirit of old Texas. A visit to McDade’s Emporium & Ice Cream Saloon will be a stroll down memory lane, where you can buy candy by the pound, sip a rich milkshake or indulge in a luscious ice cream cone. McDade’s is also the place to be for one of today’s most sought-after treats: freshly brewed Starbucks coffee! The heavenly aromas of specialty coffee drinks and house-baked pastries are a perfect pairing. Also, our selection of gifts, souvenirs, pottery and sundry items makes for great browsing while you wait for your vanilla latte. You can also pick up a hot sandwich, salad or some fruit for a picnic on our lovely grounds or for your travels back home.

While on the golf course, stop by our starter house, located by holes number One and Ten, for a variety of grab 'n go food and beverages. We also have full beverage service available from our beverage carts around the course.
