BASTROP GEM PROGRAM
Visit Bastrop's Going The Extra Mile (GEM) program gives YOU the opportunity to recognize employees in our community for exemplary service and dedicated performance to their role in hospitality. Excellent customer service delivered by every hospitality business is integral to the continued growth of tourism in Bastrop. One of the most critical components of the visitor experience is the quality of the interface between the visitor and the tourism worker, and their experience with tourism service providers. This award recognizes the hard work and dedication of employees in the hospitality community.
Who can be nominated for a GEM award?
This is an award for individuals who work in the tourism and hospitality sector that go above and beyond to help improve the guest experience of those who live in or visit Bastrop. Recipients will demonstrate their dedication to our profession by displaying the attributes of teamwork and service excellence.
What type of businesses are tourism and hospitality providers?
Hotels, Accommodations, Restaurants, Retailers, Attractions, Breweries, Wineries, Distilleries, Nightlife and Entertainment, Events, Transportation, etc.
Who can submit a nomination for the GEM award?
We're looking for service excellence in action. Everyone is encouraged to submit nominations for tourism and hospitality providers who show a high level of service and commitment to their jobs.

How frequently are GEM awards distributed?
This is the launch of our program, we will distribute GEM awards annually. New GEM award recipients will be recognized at Visit Bastrop's Annual Tourism Week event in May!
How will GEM award recipients be recognized?
All GEM Award recipients will be recognized in the following ways:
- A photo of GEM award recipients along with a brief description will be placed on visitbastrop.com
- All GEM award recipients will be highlighted on Visit Bastrop's owned social media channels
- All GEM award recipients will receive an award (braggin' rights, yea!)
- All GEM award recipients are encouraged to list this award on their LinkedIn page
