Every day is National Dog Appreciation Day! What’s a better way to show your dog you love them than by taking them on a little adventure with you? Bastrop is full of pet-friendly places - including several lodging properties and restaurants. Here are a few of our favorites:

Shopping Spree

Nilla at Community Gardens

When your good boy or girl deserves an outing you can always take them to Community Gardens. This indoor/outdoor marketplace is a great place to get out and stretch your legs with your pup. Shop indoor market finds, or head outside for plant shopping!

Outdoor Fun

Kayaks on Colorado in Bastrop

If your pup loves water, go kayaking with Rising Phoenix Adventures Tours & Events or Bastrop River Company and follow the bends of the Colorado River. Dogs are also allowed to stay with their owners while they complete necessary paperwork and training before the adventure, as well as ride the shuttle to the starting location.

Dining

Dog at Neighbors

Once you and your furry companion work up an appetite, head to Ma’Coco for authentic Baja California Mexican cuisine in the Community Gardens or Gracie’s for American comfort food served in a quaint downtown setting. Another cool and rustic hangout spot that welcomes dogs is Neighbor’s Kitchen and Yard, which offers a big riverside deck, pizza, draft beer and cocktails, plus live music. If you’re craving a burger or a sandwich, visit Roadhouse, or grab a traditional breakfast fare at Maxine’s, both of which accommodate dogs on their outdoor patio.
