Proud of our heritage, we always make sure we do Memorial Day right in Bastrop. Come launch your summer playing at Lake Bastrop or the Colorado River, camp among the legendary Loblolly Pines in our state parks or catch live music and great home cooking in Downtown Bastrop. You won’t want to miss out on our Spring Festival at Barton Hill Farms either. You’ll have no trouble making this a Memorial Day to remember in Bastrop.

Water Play

A moonlit paddle tour along the Colorado River with the Bastrop River Company is an adventurous and relaxing way to spend an evening. Families can rent canoes or kayaks to enjoy at Fisherman’s Park, where there’s a splash pad and playground for smaller ones too.

Paddle board Chill

A weekend at Lake Bastrop welcomes all kinds of water fun from boating and skiing to just hanging out on the shore. Both Lake Bastrop North Shore Park and Lake Bastrop South Shore Park offer campsites, hiking, biking and more fun than you can fit in a three-day weekend.

Best Camping Spots

Whether you prefer to be at one with the mountain or simply enjoy the view from a comfortable cabin, you’ll find several excellent options in Bastrop. The cabins at 9E Ranch immerse you right in the Lost Pines Forest with 1 or 2-bedroom cabins, or you could stay right inside Bastrop State Park in a walk-in tent, at an RV hook-up site or cabin.

GLAT

Lake Bastrop North Shore and South Shore parks are also great options for cabins or RV slips. You can stay along the North Shore in one of the fully equipped Airstreams or at the newest GLAT USA glamping retreat. All three GLAT  rentals are unique (check them out herehere and here), but all are equipped with an outdoor gas grill, dining table and comfy chairs surrounding a fire pit for a nice spot to relax under the beautiful Texas night sky.

Good Food & Live Music

If pizza on the patio and a cold brew is your idea of a perfect summer evening, then head to Neighbor’s Kitchen & Yard. You’ll find live music there as well along with a fantastic view of the sunset over the Colorado River. Housed in a historic two-story building, Store House Market & Eatery has a colorful past and farm-fresh cuisine utilizing the seasonal harvest from Eden East Farm.

Live it Up at Hyatt

Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa is definitely one of Bastrop’s best stay-and-play options for Memorial Day. They’ve got a full weekend of fun planned for your whole crew including a family fishing experience, horseback riding, tomahawk & archery, shotgun trap shoot, zip line tour, family UTV tour and even a GPS family nature quest. Of course, there’s still the pool and lazy river to enjoy, along with restaurants and a spa.

Spring Festival at Barton Hill Farms

Set at the picturesque family-owned Barton Hill Farms, this Spring Festival is the perfect way to celebrate Memorial Day. You can take photos under their cottonwood trees, pick your own bouquet from a beautiful flower patch and enjoy live music, fresh food, and cold beer. If you’re in the mood for a lazy afternoon, then relax on a swing beneath a shady tree and watch the Colorado River rush by. You’ll feel you’re right where you should be.
