The spring and summer heat doesn’t slow Bastrop’s food scene or its local farmers. For fresh produce, pasture-raised meats, artisanal goods, and handmade gifts, visit the Bastrop 1832 Farmers Market in Downtown Bastrop on Saturdays from 10 am–2 pm. Eden East Farm Stand is another standout, offering hyperseasonal fruits and vegetables grown on-site every Wednesday and Saturday from 9 am–1 pm. 

If you’d prefer to enjoy Eden East’s beautiful produce in the context of a chef-prepared meal, be sure to visit the farm’s Downtown Bastrop restaurant Store House Market & Eatery for Wine Not? Wednesdays. Every Wednesday night, Store House invites guests to take a seat on their breezy patio for discounts on select wine bottles, seasonal dishes designed to pair with the chosen wines, and live music performances. 

Art Fairs & Culture Festivals 

The Bastrop community loves to support its artists, and several events scheduled for the spring and summer focus on visual art, music, dance, and other forms of live performance.  

The Bastrop Juneteenth Celebration embraces local creatives of all stripes; this year’s event will include a parade with dancers and marching band performances, a park festival with craft vendors and community activations, and an outdoor party known as “Street Dance” that will feature dancers and DJs.  

On the first Saturday of every month, Bastrop Market Days takes over the town’s historic downtown district from 10 am to 5 pm. This Main Street event allows artisans to showcase their crafts and artistic projects, and guests can observe, experience, and purchase said art.  

Family-Friendly Events 

Bastrop eagerly welcomes visitors with children all year long, and the spring and summer seasons offer a number of special events geared toward youthful guests. 

The Christmas in July Lemonade Crawl offers a refreshing way to experience Downtown Bastrop at the height of summer. Taking place on Saturday, July 25, this festive event invites visitors to sip through participating local businesses serving creative lemonade flavors, from classic and fruity to bold and unexpected. Guests can stroll at their own pace while exploring shops, enjoying seasonal sales, and soaking in the lively, community-driven atmosphere that defines Bastrop in summer. 

But no warm-weather family festival in Bastrop is as popular as the annual Big Bang Celebration held on Independence Day, an all-day Fourth of July festival that continues to grow each year. Festivities kick off with the Pet and Pedal Parade through Downtown, followed by open streets for cyclists and skaters, the Toads and Treasures scavenger hunt, and the Great American Market featuring local artisans. The celebration wraps up at Fisherman’s Park with a community gathering and a fireworks show. 

Plan Your Festival Weekend  

Because festivals and seasonal events are well attended in Bastrop, it’s helpful to come up with a strategy for packing, parking, and scheduling. Here are a few tips to help you make plans: 

  • Spring and summer days (and nights!) in Bastrop are very warm, so be sure to bring water, sunscreen, sun-shielding hats, and/or hand fans. 

  • For events that happen in Downtown Bastrop, parking is often in short supply. Arrive early to secure a free street space or try to find a lot space at the Bastrop Public Library, the Cardinal Lot, or the Spring Street Lot.
