We do things big in Bastrop, and the 4th of July is no exception. You’ll see our special brand of American pride in every one of our celebrations on and around the holiday. Let us walk you through the best bashes so you don’t miss any of the fireworks. Get planning soon because things kick off the week before the 4th and you’re not going to want to miss any of it.

Big Bang

The day will kick off with the Bastrop Pet & Pal Parade where owners dress up their pets and dress up like their pets for prizes. You’ll need to register at 8:30 am on the lawn of the Bastrop Courthouse. Judging follows at 9:15 am in the same location and then there’ll be a parade down Main St. at 10 am from the Courthouse down to the Opera House. Prizes will be awarded for:

  • Most Unusual
  • Most Patriotic
  • Most Creative
  • Best Pet & Pal Group
  • Best Pet & Pal Look Alike
  • Best Decorated Pet Vehicle (non-motorized)
  • Best Overall

After that, the celebration picks up again from 6 pm to 9 pm for fireworks at Fisherman’s Park, right alongside the Colorado River. You’ll want to bring your own chairs, blankets, coolers and picnic baskets for a full family-friendly evening. There’ll be music to dance to, bounce houses for the kids, sprinklers to cool everyone off, field games for some friendly competition, concessions stands for snacks and an awesome 15-minute fireworks display set to music.
