Big Bang

ANNUAL BIG BANG CELEBRATION – Sat., June 29th

The day will kick off with the Bastrop Pet & Pal Parade where owners dress up their pets and dress up like their pets for prizes. You’ll need to register at 8:30 am on the lawn of the Bastrop Courthouse. Judging follows at 9:15 am in the same location and then there’ll be a parade down Main St. at 10 am from the Courthouse down to the Opera House. Prizes will be awarded for:

  • Most Unusual
  • Most Patriotic 
  • Most Creative
  • Best Pet & Pal Group
  • Best Pet & Pal Look Alike
  • Best Decorated Pet Vehicle (non-motorized)
  • Best Overall

After that, the celebration picks up again from 6 pm to 9 pm for fireworks at Fisherman’s Park, right alongside the Colorado River. You’ll want to bring your own chairs, blankets, coolers and picnic baskets for a full family-friendly evening. There’ll be music to dance to, bounce houses for the kids, sprinklers to cool everyone off, field games for some friendly competition, concessions stands for snacks and an awesome 15-minute fireworks display set to music.

FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION AT THE HYATT – Thurs., July 4th

The Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa is a spot to do everything you love with a lazy river, multiple pools, restaurants, a spa, a golf course and all kinds of Texas fun. If you stay three nights, you get the fourth free, or stay two nights and get the third 50% off. You can also just come to the resort for all the celebrations for $50 for adults and $25 for kids (complimentary for guests). Tickets are limited to 100 guests though. Here’s what to expect that weekend:

  • 4th of July Parade: Guests can decorate bikes, strollers, and wagons to create their own floats for a parade through the resort. There will also be arts and crafts, popsicles, shaved ice, and more.
  • Kids Foam Party: They’ll fill a backyard area with lots and lots of bubbles and let kids run around and play. It’s as much fun as it sounds.
  • Frontier Fest: From 11 am to 5 pm, there’ll be live entertainment, including a Cowboy Shootout at the amphitheater, a Wild West Character Meet-and-Greet, Old West Photos at Scribes Club, a mechanical bull to ride, fair-style food and hayrides throughout the day.
  • Spectacular Fireworks Display: At 9 pm, they’ll light up the sky with a huge fireworks display. There’ll be snacks to enjoy along with a full bar to add to the celebration.
