The 813 Main Building

  • 813 Main St

Details
The two-story building next door at 813 Main has a colorful past, having hosted a number of businesses, including a funeral parlor and a Mexican restaurant simply called "The Cafe" that prepared food for the migrant coal miners. During World War 2, the building's enterprising proprietors, who lived next door in the storehouse, ran two businesses: a laundry downstairs and a brothel upstairs. The brothel didn't last long, as it was shut down by officials from Camp Swift, the nearby military base.
