Details
After the fire in 1890, merchant Rufus A. Green authorized the laying of a foundation for two new brick stores. One remained vacant for several years while the other became a millinery store operated by Fenora Chambers. Mr. Green left the buildings to his daughter, Minnie K. Ransome, who used them as a "picture show" in 1915. In later years, the buildings served as the Piggly Wiggly grocery store, various hardware stores and a water well service. It is now a small business incubator.
