Details
The building at 906-908 Main served as Bastrop's post office for more than 50 years. Built in 1897, the building started out as a meat market, and in 1906 became the post office under the direction of postmistress Mrs. Sally Brooks. In the 1940s, the interior wall was opened up to make one large post office to better serve the needs of the growing community and the soldiers of Camp Swift.
