Our MayFest event of years past has been reimagined into a colorful new event - Painted Wings Bird Fest! There will be activities on Main Street on Friday May 1st, followed by a full lineup of demonstrations, nature talks, and more on Saturday, beginning with a walking tour of the Bastrop Bird Junction sculptures on Chestnut. We’ll end the day with Art After Dark on Saturday from 6-8pm, with the “Free as a Bird” Group show, live music with Kim Snider and a “Birds in Art” talk by Patricia Raine. Bastrop was designated as a Bird City in 2020, the first year of the official recognition process. Bird City Texas Certification is awarded to communities that create environments that support and protect bird populations.
