When that summer vacay is calling your name, a roadtrip to Bastrop, TX is a fun and wallet-friendly way to make that happen. Whether you’re looking from some me time or just a little we time, read on for great ways to enjoy your stay in Bastrop.

Water Play

Take the whole crew for a tour along the Colorado River with the Bastrop River Company, or opt for a romantic moonlit stroll for just the two of you. If you’d rather adventure on your own, then you should rent canoes and kayaks at Fisherman’s Park. It’s also on the Colorado River and as an added bonus, the park has a splash pad and playground too.

Hanging by the lake is a relaxing way to retreat from the heat. Lake Bastrop North Shore Park and Lake Bastrop South Shore Park give you that and all kinds of extra perks like boating, skiing, hiking, biking or just hanging out on the shore.

Best Camping Spots

Bastrop is your chance to be at one with nature or simply have it as a lovely neighbor. The cabins at 9E Ranch will immerse you right in the Lost Pines Forest in a 1- or 2-bedroom cabin. You could also stay right inside Bastrop State Park in a walk-in tent, at an RV hook-up site or in a cabin. There’s something wonderfully calming and beautiful about waking up in nature.

If you prefer a water view, then head over to Lake Bastrop North Shore or South Shore. They both have cabins and RV slips, but North Shore also has these really cool Airstreams you can stay in. They’re fully equipped and perfect for glamping. There are three to choose from (check them out here, here and here) and they all come equipped with an outdoor grill, dining table and comfy chairs around a fire pit. It’s your chill, have-a-great-conversation-under-the-stars kind of place.

Hang at the Hyatt

Hands down, Bastrop’s best stay-and-play option is the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa. This 5-star resort is surrounded in natural beauty and offers excellent restaurants and a premium spa, the Spa Django. The lazy river definitely lives up to its name and there are tons of activities like horseback riding, fishing, tomahawk and archery, shotgun trap shooting and so much more.

Good Food & Live Music

Few things satisfy like cold brew and pizza on a summer evening, especially when it’s at Neighbor’s Kitchen & Yard. They have a fantastic view of the Colorado River and some of the best brews and pizza in Bastrop. They have live music there on occasion, while lawn games are always at the ready.

Back 9 Bar is another spot for great live music and good eats. Mostly outdoors, it’s a comfy, relaxed spot with tons of fun things to do. You can check out a variety of food trucks, hang in the shade, make use of the driving range or play games like washers and beanbag toss.

Cool Brew with a View

Bastrop and beer go together like peanut butter and chocolate. You could spend a whole vacay just hitting up all the different spots.
