Bastrop, TX is one of the oldest towns in TX and we’ve got over 130 historic homes, churches, and civic and commercial structures to prove it. This tour includes a map of our 12 favorite, historic homes all within four miles of each other. Put on some comfy shoes and head out for an up-close look.
Keep in mind that most of these homes are private residences, please enjoy the view from your car.

If historic homes are your jam, but driving in air-conditioned comfort is more your style, then try this tour. We’ve mapped out 12 of Bastrop’s most beautiful historic homes with styles ranging from Victorian to Greek Revival and lots more.

Historic Downtown Buildings Walking Tour

Once you’ve seen our historic Bastrop neighbors’ homes, check out how they lived. These 29 charming stops are all so close together, they make for a fascinating walking tour. Feel free to mix in some driving too. You’ll see Bastrop’s historic courthouse, bank, barber shop, post office, Stand Theatre, Iron Front Saloon, apothecary shop and so much more.

Bastrop County Patriotic Tour

Start out at the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center where you can see our vast archives, collections and exhibits spanning more than 200 years ranging from Native American artifacts to the late 20th century. Then you’ll head to three more stops including the Rockne Museum where you can explore antiques, artifacts and papers from the Civil and World Wars, the Veterans Memorial Park and Camp Swift.

Toads in Town Tour

This self-guided tour is a fun one, especially for kids and art lovers of any age. You’ll explore the heart of Bastrop searching for bronze toad statues created by The Heart Art Foundry owners, Clint and Jamie Howard, to educate about a local endangered species, the Houston Toad. You can pick up your official Toads in Town pack at the Bastrop Museum and Visitors Center, or print out your own!  After you’ve visited them all, turn the brochure in to claim a small prize.
