Bastrop has just been named a “Distinctive Destination” by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and joins a roster of 132 towns and cities across the nation accorded this honor—in recognition of the city’s work to preserve its historic character, promote heritage tourism, enhance the community and extend its welcome to others in enjoying its offerings.
The National Trust is asking the public to determine which of the 12 cities named this year is the “2010 Fan Favorite” by casting their vote—as often as they like—on the National Trust’s website at www.PreservationNation.org/ddd.
Voting continues until February 28. The winner of the popular vote will be announced on March 1, 2010. And individual voters themselves may become winners: voters are automatically entered to win a complimentary two-night stay at any Historic Hotel of America. No purchase necessary; offer void where prohibited. Visit the website for official rules, to learn more about this year’s destinations and to vote for Bastrop!
